The deplorable conditions felt by the poor, penniless patients suffering from renal failure were empathetically addressed by THANAL years ago. There were many such patients bereft of enough money to meet their dialysis expense and even their travel fare to reach hospitals for dialysis. It was at this crucial situation, THANAL established its first Charitable Community Dialysis Centre with 10 machines. Over the period of time, the stand alone charitable dialysis facility run by THANAL has become the biggest of its kind in India equipped with 110 dialysis machines functioning in four units at Vatakara, Arikkulam near Koyilandy, Nadapuram and Chalium in Calicut benefitting almost 600 patients. The centre at Vatakara is equipped with 80 machines and the others are with 10 each. These centers are turning out to be a great deal of comfort and consolation to the suffering sections of the society. New centers are to be opened at Vellamunda , Chemancheri, Taliparamba ,Mahe and Kodagu in Karnataka soon.

The patients are categorically preferred in accordance with their economic status to offer dialysis either cost free or at subsidized rates. The centers are working in three shifts a day including night hours. THANAL is thankful to the helping hands of all kind selves whose warm-hearted supports and contributions opened the door to the hopes of scores of penurious renal patients. The humanitarian actions of THANAL are advancing to its noble aim of realizing a society with no renal patients at all. Initiatives for creating social awareness on the early detection, cure and prevention of renal disorders are being done, mainly through Kidney Care Exhibitions. An exhibition event named ‘Vrikkakkoru Thanal’ (Shade for Kidney) recently conducted by THANAL in seven neighboring areas gained wide public attention and had huge participation of the local people, students, social activists and others.
